Vehicle Repair Estimates under the FMVRA

Our firm receives a lot of calls from Florida residents regarding trouble that they are having with their auto mechanic’s billing practices. Did you know that, under Florida law, your auto mechanic / repair shop must provide you with a written motor vehicle repair estimate and disclosure statement?

Under Florida Statute §559.905, when any repair shop customer requests a motor vehicle repair shop to perform repair work on a motor vehicle, and the cost of the repair work will exceed $100, the shop must prepare a written repair estimate, which is a form setting forth the estimated cost of repair work, including diagnostic work, before effecting any diagnostic work or repair.

* Please note that this form focuses its practice in Family Law in South Florida. We do not provide services in this area of the law, we provide the information on this pages as a public service.
